Default Excel Lags When Keying Numeric

Happens on 2 files about 300KB - multiple worksheets (5-20) - simple formula
adding and dividing within the worksheet - no referencing to other worksheets
or workbook. When I key in alphabet text no problems. When I key in numeric
even 1 digit, it lags 15-20 seconds. I opened a blank new worksheet no
problems encountered. I would like advise aside from cutting and pasting
worksheets to another workbook.

Hi

You could try setting ToolsOptionsCalculationmanual
and see if that helps.
Press F9 when you want to calculate.

Default Excel Lags When Keying Numeric

Sorry if I was not veru detail on my issue. I am using Office 2007.
When I opened up the file and go to a blank column and start typing text on
each row of the blank column - no problem exists. When I start typing digits
on each cell of the blank column, it lags 15-20 seconds. Thanks for your
reply.

Hi

Then for XL2007 try
Round Office buttonExcel OptionsFormulasCalculation optionsmanualOK

or, more easily, select the Formulas tabclick the small arrow on
Calculation optionsManual
To Force a calculation when in manual mode, either F9 or click the
calculator icon to the right of the Calculator options.

Thanks for you response Roger. But unfortunately I am still having the same

numbers from cel to cell lags.

Default Excel Lags When Keying Numeric

Hi

File received and does behave exactly as you say.
copying the sheets to another workbook, the same problem exists.
I cannot see any reason for this behaviour, therefore I think the file has
somehow been corrupted.

I wrote some VBA code to read all of the data and formulae across to another
workbook, and all appears to be OK.
I have mailed the new file back to you.
