can I have the cursor go to same row/column in each sheet
I have a workbook in Lotus 123 that I can put my cursor on column CD and row
586 and when I page through the workbook, my cursor goes to the same spot on each worksheet, so I can easily review my data. How can I do this in Excel? I tried grouping the sheets, but it didn't work the way 123 does. I have to convert this file and my manager would like the same functionality. |

I don't know what Lotus does, but in XL, If you group your sheets, then
click in the name box and type in CD586, and then hit <Enter, the sheet in focus goes right to that cell. Then, when you click on another sheet tab, you'll see CD586 in the name box. Simply click in the name box and hit <Enter, and you'll go to that cell. -- Regards, RD --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please keep all correspondence within the NewsGroup, so all may benefit ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Turbo" wrote in message ... My workbook has about 60 tabs, so clicking in the name box to page to the
same place on each sheet will take some time. In 123, when the worksheets are in group mode, you can just page through them without typing in the cell. I thought Excel would eventually have this functionality. it's something so simple but so important when comparing multiple spreadsheets. Why tab through 60 sheets in the first place?
Why not set up a Main sheet, where you can designate a variable cell to display for all the sheets in the WB, so you can examine them all at a glance? Do your sheet names follow some sort of pattern or sequence? -- Regards, RD --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please keep all correspondence within the NewsGroup, so all may benefit ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Turbo" wrote in message ... Well, basically because of the way the workbook is set up. There are ranges
throughtout the workbook. Probably 30 different ranges with tons of cell references. So would you set up a main sheet with a variable cell for each range? The tabs are not named in any pattern. They are named according to business type. So if I look at cell d256 in the real estate business and I want to see what's in that cell for the Healthcare business, I just page to that tab and I want to be on the same cell. It's something my manager does constantly in Lotus and is the reason why he doesn't want to convert the file to Excel. "Ragdyer" wrote: Why tab through 60 sheets in the first place?
