Default Always Create Backup - option is not working

I checked the always create backup option for 2 files. I saved them both,
but neither has the .xlk file created. Any ideas?

A backup is created only after saving the workbooks a second time.

Backup is always one version behind the current save so first save does create a
backup.

Thanks Gord. Actually it turns out I'm getting a "Backup of
{myfilename}.xlk" This is some known issue when files are saved to an ftp
location. My file is being saved locally, so I still don't get it, but as
long as I'm getting a backup, it's OK.

That's how Excel does it.

Name is always prefaced with "backup of"
