Do they open from inside of Excel?

based on your limited explanation, i am assuming that you are trying to open
excel files from the desktop.
can you open the file from excel ie fileopen? if so, we can assume that
excel is not corrupted and excel is not the problem.\
your link(s) may have gotten corrupted which is a windows problem.

instead of clicking the file and opening try to open the file from programme


Start excel, click on open or press ctrl-o, select the file you want to open.
