Currently we are upgrading to a new version of the Oracle client(from 8.1.7
to 11g). We use an ODBC connection to bring data from Oracle tables into Excel. When we load the new Oracle client on a workstation, queries created in the old version of Oracle no longer work. When we try to refresh the query we get the following error message, it says "[Microsoft[ODBC Driver Manger] Data source name not found and no default driver specified" I think it is referencing the the driver name. If you create a new file DSN on the workstation, the FILE DSN references "Oracle in OraClient11g_home" (11g) and not" Oracle ODBC Driver"(8.1.7). Is there a way to make a general reference to the file DSN so the query would work on workstations running either Oracle client? |
