Pivot Table column widths

Hello,

I am using MS Excel 2003 SP2 and I'm finding that even though I have
'AutoFormatting' un-checked, and the 'Preserve Formatting' checked in the
'Table Options...', there is a case where I lose my column width formatting.
This only seems to happend when I take a Pivot Table that has two data
elements in the 'Row Area', and I drag them off the Pivot table, and add only
one element back to the 'Row Area'. If I add two elements (even if they are
different elements than the ones orignally there), the column widths remain
intact. Is there a way to prevent this loss of column width formatting when
I go from two to one elements in the 'Row Area' of my pivot table?

Thanks.
