Protection - Allow Dropdown Selection

Hello Excel Experts!

I have a basic tool I've created that calculates a percentage based on drop
down menus of 4 specific cells in C11:F11. I want to protect the entire sheet
yet allow selection of these fields without having to enter the protection
password I've set up. Furthermore, I do not want to have to set permissions
for certain users as the group using it will be changing constantly and our
network does not easily allow for this.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Protection - Allow Dropdown Selection

start of by selecting the four cells that you want users to be able to use.
select the cell, right click, Format Cells... and on the last tab
(Protection,) uncheck the Locked option. do this for your four cells. then
you must actually protect the sheet to enable your field protection. in
office 2007, it's in the view tab. if you're using an older version, check
the help option. this will allow users to use the sheet, and only manipulate
the four options.

for the actual security - depends on what you want it for. if it is to make
actual changes to the form, then you will have to give out your password to
them for the form. as for users, the best thing is have your IT people set
up a group and set premissions for the group members to use the form. as
members are added, just add them to the group or remove them from the group.
if it is to access or use the form, then on your server, right click on the
file and select the sharing or security tab. add the group name and what
they are allowed to do.

the only issue happens when someone copies the file from your location onto
a new location these group permissions will be removed. this should get you
started.
