using the IF function to automatically change the color of the fon
 
Let say i want to set up a scenerio that says if A12 is less then 60% change
font to red.

I am not sure how to go about doing this. I understand IF formulas but not
advanced.

formula can't do this but conditional formating can.
on the menu bar...
formatconditional format....
cell value is less than .6 pick your format.

Select Cell A12. From the xl menu choose Format - Conditional Format.
In the dialog that opens choose Cell value is less than 0.6
Change the format to a red font.
