Default Typing an "E" within numbers changes cell

Hey everyone,

When I type an "E" within a cell that contains numbers, it changes the
formatting of it to scientific notation. For example, when I type "541e08",
it changes to "5.41E+10". Is there a way to prevent this from happening
WITHOUT having to type an apostrophe before the entry?

Thanks everyone. AccessJoe

Preformat the cell as text, then make your change.

Format the cell as text before you put anything in it.
