After ? selecting Control Alt Delete my main screen turned upside down I was
in excel at the time

Try Control Alt Up or Down arrows. This is driver dependent.

Try pressing Ctrl+Alt+ Up-Arrow. (or possibly Down-Arrow)

1. turn off the computer
2. remove power from the computer (if a laptop, remove batteries)
3. restore power to the computer
4. re-boot
