How do I make sure my Wkbook is accessible to users using earlier

Hi everyone,

I'm using Excel 2003 Professional Edition and will be sending a workbook out
for use by a group of people. I have no way of finding out what version they
have and wondered if my workbook will function ok.

I've used some functions, data validation (? the sticking point ?) and also
buttons with macros to move about the workbook.

Question 1 - will all of these work ok
Question 2- what can I do to give it a good chance of working ok - what
should I save the workbook as etc.

Sorry I'm a bit woolly about this :-)

Cheers

You must ensure that you do not use any features that were introduced
in XL2003 in order for the files to be workable with earlier versions
(well, from XL97 onwards).

The file format is the same (.xls), and I think the changes in XL2003
were largely cosmetic, although there were a few changes to the VBA
(some extra functions included). In XL Help there is usually a section
on "What's new in this Version" - I'm not sure how extensive that list
is, but that would be a good starting point.

You must also take account that XL2002 would have some features that
earlier versions did not have, as did XL2000, so if you really want to
ensure compatibility with XL97 then it would be better to get a copy
of that to try it out on.

Hope this helps.
