File Retrieval

Was having problems with Excel opening the same document on two computers.
Went to save as to see where it was going and inadvertently saves as over a
very large important file that had not been backed in in a while. If there
anyway to get this back after doing the save as. I have searched the tmep
folders and can not find anything there. Is thereanother hiding place that
Microsoft might have put a backup?

Did you e-mail it to someone? If yes you have a chance.

Also...
Did you check both computers for the file?
Save As does not replace the old file with the new one, it creates a new file.
Save replaces the old file with the current version.
Vista has some sort of file backup built-in.
Some Network systems create automatic backups - see the system administrator.
If it is an important file, maybe your boss has a copy.

Where is the original?

It will not have been saved over.

Save As just creates a new file with a different name.

The original is not over-written.

They did a Save As and wrote over a "different" "important" file.
