Open Excel file in separate Excel occurence

A friend is using a multiple screen configuration and wants to open 2 Excel
files in 2 separate Excel occurences. When he opens a file with File, Open
it opens a second spreadsheet in the same Excel application. Is there any
way to have it open a second Excel application?

Thanks!

Open it from the start menu by clicking on excel again. If you open a file
from the actual excel file that is open it will keep it in that instance of
excel.

You are right. I told him the same thing but he wanted to know if it could
be done without having to open Excel again "manually".

Well, you can also go to Window-- Compare Side to Side... but I like just
opening up two excel workbooks with my dual screens.
