How do I recoved a file that I saved over
A Excel file, once saved, cannot be "restored" to a prior version. Do a file search in Windows explorer and see if you saved an older copy someplace. Check your "sent" mail to see if you attached an older copy to an email. Also, do any of your co-workers/boss/friends have a copy? -- Jim Cone San Francisco, USA http://www.realezsites.com/bus/primitivesoftware (Excel Add-ins / Excel Programming) "cmartinsen" wrote in message I receintly saved over a file that I need in Excel. The short answer is you don't.
If you did a Save As to a different directory or changed the name slightly, then the original file will still be intact and living in it's original directory, but if you just did a straight Save over the top of your existing file, then, unfortunately it is gone for good. One other possibility,
Do you have IT people who do daily backups? Yesterdays back-up will be unchanged. HTH Martin "MartinW" wrote in message ... The short answer is you don't. The answer will depend on which operating system you are using.
If windows XP then you cant. If windows 2000, yes, consult with your IT Deparment. If you are using windows vista, yes you can recover it, just click the file with the right button and select properties, then select the tab Previous Versions. Hope it helps JPG "MartinW" wrote: One other possibility, Do you have IT people who do daily backups? Yesterdays back-up will be unchanged. HTH Martin "MartinW" wrote in message ...
