Default Exel 2007 penny off

When I am adding dollar amounts in Excel 2007 the total is a penny off. Is
there a fix for this?

Perhaps you aren't really adding dollar amounts, but a actually
calculated numbers that are only showing two places after the decimal point.

I know nothing of Excel 2007 but suspect it's no different than other
versions so have a look here

Default Exel 2007 penny off

hi
i aggree with bob. having worked with the accounting dept for 20+ years,
they are extatic if they can get to within a dollor of the year end total.
roundoff they call it. it a phenomenon of the computer age where we have
numbers with 15 decimal places rounded off to 2 decimal place meaning there
is a lot going on that we just don't see which is why we sometimes end up
with "funny" numbers.

the site that mike posted explains all about roundoff and what to do about it.

regards
FSt1

Round the numbers before you add them up. Then you won't be off ever again.

Fred.
