Default any way to copy and paste values from pivot table and keepformatting?

I'd like to copy and values from a pivot table and paste them to a new
workbook in a way where the formatting remains. Does anyone know how
to do this? I have excel 2003.

just right-click on the paste & do a paste special | click formats | ok

How do I 'copy pivot table'? Select All | Copy ?

If I do Paste Special in a new workbook, it tries to link the paste
back to the original workbook, which I don't want.

Select the pivot/parts thereof*, then click Edit Copy (from the menu
command) to copy,
then do the paste special as values & as formats
*either manually (for parts) or via right-click inside the pivot Select
Entire Table
