Entering Lap times

I have a whole heap of lap times from a race that i want to graph and look
at. however when puting the data i having trouble entering it as a single
unit of time, even i format the cell to mm:ss and enter the lap time such as
00:02:18 in the cell in shows 2:18 but up the top it reads as 12:02:18 pm
which is not what i want as it wont graph properly. any idea??

Entering Lap times

I assume up top means the formula bar and it is showing AM not PM.
So long as the time is entered properly it will graph exactly as is.
Just ignore the 12:02:18 AM.

If you want to see the underlying value that Excel uses, just format
the cell to General and it will show as 0.00159722222222222
That is the fraction of 1 day that represents 00:02:18
