consultants-where? how much?how good? do I need one?

I am an independent/ small business operator. My knowledge of excel is
almost zero, and I am not sure if I have the time to get up to speed
to enable me to 'repair' / create some relatively simple connected
worksheets.

I have some worksheets that I have been using for quite some years for
my personal accounting, but I think that they need to be overhauled.
Essentially, there are number of small problems with formulae on both
worksheets, and the fact that I have to manually transfer data from
one sheet to the second, separate worksheet.

I am thinking about hiring a consultant.

I would like to know if any here could give me an idea about the
following:

- consultant rates

- how/where to find one

- how to assess/determine suitability

Thanks.

Hi,

It sounds like you would be much better off with someone
sitting beside you as you sort this out.

One option is a flyer on the noticeboard at your local university.
Cash-strapped students are a valueable resource that many people
overlook. Even ex-students tend to forget the mutual benefits of this
option.
