I can't change the colour of cells any more. Why?

About a month ago I copied and pasted into Excel several months of my bank
statement from my bank's website.
Since then I cannot colour a cell background in any file or write in any
colour but black.
I employ colour a lot to break up a page into groups of either rows or
columns.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I use Excel 2003.

Can you see the colors in Print Preview or when you do a printout?

If so...........

Check this out................

The fill color, the fill pattern, or the line color of a WordArt or
AutoShape object in an Office document does not change

As directed, change the High Contrast setting in Windows OS
