Excel 2000 Pivot Tables
I have client who is creating Pivot Tables in Excel 2000. Her source data is
less than 1,000 records. When she tries to add row fields she gets the following error, sometimes, but not always: "MS-Excel cannot make this change because there are too many row or column items. Drag at least one row or column field off the PivotTable, or to the page position...." This error appears sporadically. Sometime she can add 4 row fields and then it appears, sometimes 3 , sometimes 5. If she removes all the row fields and then re-adds them all back in, in a different order, the error usually does not appear. According to the Excel specifications, there are no limits to the number of row or column fields other than the PCs memory. Can anyone explain what is happening? If it was a memory error you would think the error would appear consistently, but it doesn't. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. -- LPS |
