vlookup with indirect function

Hi

Have looked at similar threads but have not found the solution

=vlookup(a1,mpg,4,0) works ok

what i require is the 4 to be replaced by the number in R2

=vlookup(a1,mpg,indirect(R2),0)

Cell R2 = 4 mpg is a defined range in another sheet in the same workbook

Keep getting #REF!

Help appriciated

Regards

Brian

Do you really need to use "INDIRECT"?

=vlookup(a1,mpg,R2,0)
