I am unable to copy a worksheet

Exactly how are you trying to make a copy of the worksheet? Copy/paste?
Dragging the worksheet with Ctrl? Right clicking the worksheet tab and
selecting Move or Copy? And what message do you get when you try?

Regards,
Tyro

I am unable to copy a worksheet

With no workbook protection enabled under ToolsProtectionProtect Workbook my
guess would be the workbook is shared.

You should get a message to that effect when you attempt to copy the sheet.

Do you get no message?

Do you get any message?

Does nothing happen at all?

I am unable to copy a worksheet

Right-click on sheet tab has no "copy sheet"

It has "Move or Copy" only and you must select the checkbox for "create a copy"

Perhaps you are just moving sheet1 from where it is to where it is.

You can copy within a shared workbook too. Perhaps some sort of crazy macro?

Of course, you can avoid all of this by highlighting this worksheet and doing
a copy paste.

This is correct and it is exactly what I have been doing. If I copy and
paste into a blank sheet the columns looses their actual widths.

Perhaps you are just moving sheet1 from where it is to where it is.

What happens if you CTRL + a(twice in 2003) to select the entire sheet contents.

Now insert a new sheet, select A1 and Paste.

I am unable to copy a worksheet

I don't find that with my Excel 2003 unless I am running two separate instances
of Excel and copying from one to the other.

If not your case, I don't have any more ideas.

How about copy and paste then Paste SpecialColumn Widths

Two steps but will get your columns straightened out.
