Sorting a column of information

I am trying to sort information in Excel 2003

I have a column of phone numbers - I am trying to sort them by U.S. area
code. The only sort function i see is alfabetical.

Is there a way i can do this?

hi.
i have 2002 and don't seem to have that option but excel will sort number as
well as letters so go ahead and sort "aphabeticly. post back if it don't work
