Format Validation Cells

I have search the archives and have not found and answer to this simple
question!

I have used Debra's site (http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal01.html) to
create a simple drop down menu in a cell using Data Validation. How do I then
change the appearance of the cell and the drop down menu....for example
increase the number of entries shown when you click on the arrow, or move the
arrow to within the cell boundary, or give the cell a menu border.....ie.
change the format of the cell without using FormatCell.

Im sure I have used 'Format Control' before, but this is not available in
the format menu? Any help will be greatly appreciated....

I am on Win Xp with Office 2002 SP3.

The data validation dropdown is limited to 8 rows, and can't be changed,
nor can its font or font size be changed.

If you can use macros, there's a sample file here that provides a
combobox from which you can select one of the values. In a combobox, you
can set the number of rows in the dropdown list:

Under 'Data Validation', look for 'Data Validation Combobox'
