delay in opening excel files
I have an issue opening excel files that are created/used every month. I
create new excel files each month (as I receive new data), and the delay in opening these files seems to get longer each month. I don't necessarily get significantly more data with each new file, just updated data. It takes me upwards of 5-6 minutes (again, this is getting worse every month) to open these files. Is there a setting I need to update? These files are not huge, although they do have a number of links to them...but it's not out of control. version: Excel in Windows XP |

Some things to try... 1. Empty the Windows Temp folder and the temp folder here... Start | Run | %temp% 2. With Excel closed, delete the ???.xlb file, it is automatically rebuilt when Excel opens. Note that you will lose all custom changes to the menu/toolbars. 3. Turn off Calculation before opening the files. -- Jim Cone San Francisco, USA http://www.realezsites.com/bus/primitivesoftware (Excel Add-ins / Excel Programming) "shawshank" wrote in message I have an issue opening excel files that are created/used every month.
