Is there a way to automatically insert vertical lines

Is there a way to insert horizontal and vertical lines to divide rows and
colomns on a worksheet without manually drawing in each line?

On the face of it:
Select the range, then click Format Cells Border tab (options are there)

If you meant the gridlines aren't visible, try this quick check:
Click Tools Options View tab Check "Gridlines" OK

Or if the gridlines aren't visible, perhaps you have the cell color set to
"white" which will blank out the gridlines.

Change it to "automatic" or "no fill".
