Excel background changes when cell has content

A user showed me a spreadsheet that when they type text in the cell the cell
background changes color for certain columns of the spreadsheet. They would
like that taken off.

Could not find any conditional formating but I removed all conditional
formatting by highlighting the each sheet and deleting all conditions.

I also check for macros or any VBA attached to the sheet and didn't find any.

Any ideas?

Thanks

If no CF and no code anywhere then this is a rare thing.

Code doesn't have to be macros.

Did you right-click on the sheet tab and "View Code" to see if any event code
there?

Did you right-click on the Excel Icon left of "File" and "View Code" to see if
any event code there?

Are some of the cells already colored? This happens to me when some of
the cells are already colored. Excel is trying to learn the pattern
and automatically colors the cells it thinks you want to be
highlighted.

Thanks for the trigger

I went to
ToolsOptions - Edit and uncheck the Extend list formats and formulas

and that solved the problem.

thanks,

That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. Glad to hear it worked!
