Color Pallet -- Changes when opening files

My color pallet seems to change with the wind. Believe it has something to
do with opening files from another person. Can work with a file, use
shading/font colors and everything is fine. Will receive a new file from
someone via email and upon opening, my pallet changes. When I return to my
original file, all of the colors have changed.

Is there a way to lock the pallet down?

hi
just a guess here but the file from another person probably has custom
colors in it.
if so, not much you can do about it.
