I cant find the post I made last week making a vlook from column index
number to the left of the target number. I know thee was use of index and
match, but I am not familiar.

Best bet is to do a search by your screen name. If you do the search in
microsoft.public.excel.misc you should find a post you made about insert 5
rows.
