pivot table data field defaults to COUNT, would like it to default toSUM
I'm building a bunch of fairly wide pivot tables, with a couple of
dozen data fields. When I drag and drop the pivot table data elements into the data field, Excel appears to choose the count function by default; I would prefer that it sum by default so that I don't have to manually change this. Is there a setting somewhere? Dave |

Excel will generally default to Sum for a numerical field. What is in
the field you want to sum? |

For some reason the 0 (zero) values are formatted as text, while the numbers greater than or less than zero are formatted as numbers. Multiplying everything by 1 formats them as numbers, and then the pivot table behaves as you indicate. Thanks. Dave |
