errors when opening excel

When I open excel or doubleclick to open an excel file, I get a series of
errors. I have read the same problem several times, but the solutions don't
seem to help for me.

Error #1: 'C:\Program.xls' could not be found...
Error #2: 'Files\Microsoft.xls' could not be found...
I click "OK" on both of these messages, and then it opens.

Here's what I have tried:
StartRun"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE" /Unregserver
StartRun"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE" /Regserver

I have also tried the registry edits described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/207574

None of these have solved the problem.
Hopefully someone can help me solve this problem.

Phil

Did you try:
Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)

I don't have another guess.

I would suggest you try both the reregistering and the tools|options stuff once
more. Lots of people say one of them works.
