Is there anyway I can protect the header footer area in a worksheet?

PROTECTING HEADER FOOTER IN EXCEL
I don't think so.
If it's really important to you, you could use a workbook_beforeprint event macro that recreates the header/footer each time print (or print preview is invoked).
