Make sure that in Excel the setting Ignore other Applications, under Tools,

I did see that from some other postings and made sure it wasn't.
I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't a problem with Outlook Express. I used Outlook instead and was able to double-click and open the attachments just fine. Might there be some issue with Outlook Express? The error messages relate to the location of the temporary files. There is a setting under Tools, Options Security about not letting

It's called security which is a good thing. Allowing it is possible through
security settings in either Outlook Express or Outlook which are default set as 'restricted' zone which relates to the systems security settings, disallowing most executables from performing possibly dangerous and unwanted results. Live with the 'hassle' and be glad! It is much more of a 'hassle' after your personal information is stolen or compromised.
