When selecting the ranges I wish to use for Custom Error Bars on various
charts, Excel 2007 SP1 consistently and repeatably crashes. The crash occurs as soon as I click on a worksheet to begin selecting the desired range. The problem is not limited to a particular workbook or chart type. Furthermore, the Custom Error Bar range selection popup window does not allow copying/pasting of text. This prevents me from doing anything but manually typing in the cell ranges I wish to reference as error values. |

I struggled with this for a while too. I found that if I move the
chart to an object in the sheet where my data is, I can select the data ranges without changing sheets, which seems to work fine without crashing. I just add my error bars and then move my chart back to where it was when I'm done. It's klugey but it seems to work for now. |
