Import blank date into excel

I am importing information into excel with some blank dates and some
populated date fields. The populated dates work fine but the blank dates
come in as 1/1/1900. I have not found anywhere in the setup where I can
change how excel treats blank date fields from imported data. Can anyone
help?

The actual value in these cells is either 0 or 1.

You need to clear these cells and then this erroneous display will also vanish

I realize I can always delete the information in the cell after it is there
but is there anyway to avoid the information being put there in the first
place?

It sounds like it is not blank, but in fact 0 (as stated above). You will
need to get rid of the 0 before input.
