Problem when closing Excel 2007 and with Add-ins

I'm using Excel 2007. The program runs fine except when I close the
application or attempt to access the "Add-in" menu option through "Excel
Options." It says that "Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs
to close." I find that ironic when I'm attempting to shut down the
application. The program will start and close just fine when in Safe Mode.
I'm guessing that an Add-In is causing this problem. I'd like to know if
there is a work-around for this problem. I'd appreciate any help that can be
offered.

Problem when closing Excel 2007 and with Add-ins

With Excel 2007 closed you might run Regedit from Start-Run and navigate to
this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\E xcel\Options

In the right panel any items starting with OPEN (OPEN, OPEN1, etc.) are
nornal Excel add-ins being loaded when Excel starts. If there are any you
might delete them (or rename them (xOpen,..)) to see if Excel runs okay
without them.

There are other add-ins, like COM add-ins, that load through a different
mechanism but this is a good one to check first.
