sort

I am trying to sort a column data. I have selected the data in a
column I want to sort. When I try to sort, the selection slips one row
down.

So If I want to sort then I have to select one more cell above the
cell from where I want to sort.

In one excel it works fine, but in some other workbook it gives
problem.

How to solve this problem

The sort dialogue should have an option to let you tell it whether you have
a header row or not.
