Lotus 123 Conversion
I'm converting an old .wk4 Lotus file to Excel 2000, and noticed the Excel
file size was 1 meg larger than the .wk4 file. I had to add a lot of VB code, so I downloaded Code Cleaner and ran through that procedure. The exported ..bas files were not large so I went back to the basic spreadsheet. When I first converted the file, Excel 2000 crashed when I opened the .wk4 file, and continued to crash until I gave up. I then opened the file successfully in Excel 2002 and saved it there. I just re-did the original conversion (so Excel file didn't even have any code in it yet), and the file size immediately ballooned 1 meg again. And yes, I already checked for blank rows/columns saved as used ranges. I'm curious if anyone knows: 1) Why Excel 2000 crashed when I tried the conversion. 2) Was there another way I should have done this conversion? 3) Am I doomed to a life with the extra 1 meg? I have other files to convert. Thanks for any insight you may have; Happy Holidays! |
