insert row into named column

I have a named column (refers to =Name!$B:$B) in which is numbers formatted
as text. This is a list of part numbers that gets changed occasionally. I
have just tried to insert a new part number into this column by inserting a
new row but without success. The other worksheets that lookup and match their
value to the values in this list don't recognize the new addition to the
named column.

I've tried:
deleting and re-creating the named column
format painter from the working cells in the list
overtyping the new number into an existing, working cell. This one makes
everything work so I can zero in on the row I created /I think/.

Any ideas why I can't simply insert a row and have my named column expand by
the one (not at the end... in the middle)?

insert row into named column

You must use a Dynamic range and not the entire column.

See Debra Dalgleish's site for info and formula.
