Excel2000 ODBC query oddity

Hi

This here is about solution, I found for problem I described in my post from
04.03.2005 14:06 (GMT-2)

It looks, like ODBC query from Excel table in same workbook (Source table is
defined as named range) doesn't work properly without Analysis Toolpack
Add-in installed. You can create the query, but when you close the workbook,
and reopen it again, you are asked for data source again. The complexity of
query, or placement of workbook, doesn't matter - for test I created into My
Documents folder a workbook with a 2x2 table, defined it as a named range
Test, and on other sheet created simplest ODBC query from table Test (SELECT
Test.A, Test.B FROM `C:\My Documents\Test`.Test Test). When reopened, it
behaved as described above!
At start I suspected, that MS ODBC Query Add-in is needed (on my computer,
where queries worked without problems, both Add-ins are installed). But
today I tested it on another computer (WinXP), which also had same problem
with ODBC, and after only Analysis Toolpack was installed, workbook with
query opened normally.

How does Analysis Toolpack influence the behaviour of ODBC query, remains a
mystery for me.
