Default Excel 2003 Too many inherited custom headers and footers

How do I delete all of the headers and footers in Excel 2003? I opened a
workbook and it added a whole bunch of headers and footers I don't need. They
are not on the page, they appear in the pulldown list. I want to clear the
pulldown list of all these junk headers and footers. I don't see a way to do
this. Thanks!
