Annoying "autocorrect!"
Hi All
When I type "December 2014" into a cell and hit return, Excel automatically changes it to "Dec-14". How do I stop it doing this?! Can't find anything in Tools|Options. Thanks, Phil |

Thanks, Phil Precede your typing with an apostrophe like this: 'December 2014 This will enter it as text and Excel will not try to convert it to a date. Alternatively, format the cell as text BEFORE typing ito it. |

Hi Phil -
Change the Format on the cell to Text -- it will display exactly how you enter it ... FormatCells...Number-Text |

Thanks Stephen, it was the "Format BEFORE" thing that wasn't obvious.

Pre-format the cell as Text or preface the input with an apsotrophe which won't
show in the cell. 'December 2014 Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Fri, 7 Dec 2007 15:45:58 -0000, "Phil C" wrote: Hi All When I type "December 2014" into a cell and hit return, Excel automatically changes it to "Dec-14". How do I stop it doing this?! Can't find anything in Tools|Options. Thanks, Phil |
