I want all values entered in a particular column to be blue or red if a cell
in that column is Sat or Sun e.g. if cell c3=Sat. all values in col C should
be blue

Format/ Conditional Formatting/ Formula is:
=COUNTIF(C:C,"Sat")0
and choose your format.
Add: then include similar formula for Sun
