Need to know percapita consumer debt. Debt amount is 2121.1 bill.

Need to know percapita consumer debt. Debt amount is 2121.1 billions,
population is 295,622,256. How would I enter equation?

CLR

Put the debt value in A1
Put the population value in B1
Put this in C1 =A1/B1

Gord Dibben

Debt in A1 $2,121,100,000,000

Population in B1 295,622,256

Formula in C1 =A1/B1 returns $7175.035

Biff

Hi!

A1 = debt amount
A2 = population

=A1*10^9/A2

7175.03

That's not the question. 2121.1 refers to billions, population is single
digits. Excel will not accept 2121.1 as a number, it hates punctuation.

CLR

Divide both sides of the input by 1000000000, as
=2121100000000/1000000000 for debt in A1, will display as 2121.1,
=295622256/1000000000 for population in B1 will display as .295622256

In C1 put =A1/B1 and still get 7175.035

Biff

Hi!

2000 billion = 2 trillion.

Don't you like shortcuts?

2121.1*10^9 = 2,121,100,000,000
