I am adjusting a market segmentation for a certain industry, which currently
contains 6 different segments, which add up to 100%. I want to add another segment and have the total to remain at 100% this would mean that the other categories should be reduced accordingly while still holding the same weighting in the group. Is there a function that will help me with this? |

Let's say the original six are A1 thru A6:
10% 20% 30% 5% 25% 10% Put the percentage of the new seventh item in B7 In B1 enter: =(1-$B$7)*A1 and copy down thru B6. FOr example if the new seg was to be 33%, then: 10% 6.70% 20% 13.40% 30% 20.10% 5% 3.35% 25% 16.75% 10% 6.70% 33% Thew new one takes as much room as you want, the old ones accomodate but stay in proportion. -- Gary''s Student - gsnu200753 "Padraig" wrote: I am adjusting a market segmentation for a certain industry, which currently contains 6 different segments, which add up to 100%.
