Default Sum Column by Date Range

I have 2 columns, one with date the other with $amounts. I want to sum the
$amounts, but only by a date range,(ie 2/10/07-9/07/07).

Date Amount
1/1/2006 125
2/10/2007 50
9/07/2007 25

I need help with a fomula for this.
