What's a 'Macro'?

What's a Macro and what are they used for?

We are a manufacturer of farming equipment. I developed a Bidding System and
wondered many times if Macros might come in handy here and there.

I typed Macro into Help - nothing at this basic level comes up. Same for
Google and Wikipedia....

A macro is a way to automate actions that you perform manually. You can
actually record your actions and re-play them later. Checkout:

Elkar and Gary:

Thanks for the prompt reply. Right on the money in both cases. Exactly what
I was looking for. Appreciate your effort. Obvious question: When you type
'Macros' into MSFT Exl Help, why wouldn't these two references be the first
to pop up?

Answer: Because Microsofties write Help sections for each other. They
wouldn't be caught dead writing for their Simpleton Customers. Way beneath
them.
