Editing combo-box properties
When creating a combo box and editing (for instance) the "Linked Cell"
property while in Design Mode, I used to be able to left click next to the "Linked Cell" property, then move my pointer to the applicable cell and left click again, automatically entering that cell as the "Linked Cell". Now, it seems like I have to type every entry and cannot point & click. Why? |

I think your memory is playing tricks on you.
You can assign a linked cell this way if you use a dropdown from the Forms toolbar, though. Editing combo-box properties
Um, under the Development tab, using the "create forms" (xlm), I select a
combo-box. I open the properties of the combo-box and (unlike my experience with Excel 2003) I cannot point and click to make entries in the Properties boxes. I'm not sure what you mean when you say I can assign a linked cell this way if I use a "dropdown from the Forms toolbar". I am using the Forms toolbar. When I have the combo-box Properties open, whenever I try to point and click to assign a linked cell, it simply exits the Properties form. It sounds like you're using xl2007 and that the combobox you're adding is the
equivalent of the combobox from the Control Toolbox toolbar in xl2003. It's different from the dropdown from the Forms toolbar in xl2003. If you wait, I'm sure someone will explain how to see that old Forms toolbar (or the equivalent on the QAT). I can't assign the linked cell of a combobox from the control toolbox toolbar in xl2003 by pointing and clicking.
