Mac to PC Excel problems

I am having problems going from Mac to PC with Excel. When I open the Excel
file on my PC , it says format has been changed and when I try to make
changes, it says the worksheet has been password protected and I must remove
the protection. This does not happen when I open the file on a Mac. How can
I fix this?
