Have you completed the reading assignment yet? I suggest that's where

If I knew where to read I wouldn't be submitting this question, because I
would have been able to READ it! "Bob I" wrote: Have you completed the reading assignment yet? I suggest that's where you start. Shanell wrote: What is a compound document, and why is it needed? |

If I knew where to read I wouldn't be submitting this question, because I would have been able to READ it! Often, the definition depends on the context. Try googling "define: compound document" (without quotes), and see if any of those definitions fit your context. |

"Shanell" wrote in message ... What is a compound document, and why is it needed? Broadly speaking, you can think of a compound file as one physical disk file that contains one or more virtual files within it. For example, a single XLS file on disk can contains two virtual files: the workbook and the VBA project. The same disk file can also include embedded files, such as an embedded PowerPoint presentation. These logically independent files are stored in a single disk file. See http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms693383.aspx for additional info. Go to msdn.microsoft.com and search for "compound file" and you'll find quite a bit of info. -- Cordially, Chip Pearson Microsoft MVP - Excel, 10 Years Pearson Software Consulting www.cpearson.com (email on the web site) |

The question appears identical to that taken directly from a homework
assignment. The part about compound means a second application is involved, so what application is it? The text that the question comes from will answer the question, hence the advise to complete the reading assignment.
